how competitive is it to get a bid?

by:

I know greek life is a huge deal at TCU, but I didn’t really realize the magnitude of it until I started talking to other incoming freshmen and saw that nearly all of us are participating in recruitment. With that being said, how common is it for girls to not receive a bid from any of the houses?

Yes it is very competitive, but each sorority takes around 65 girls (give or take some depending on quota) a year. That’s about 850 girls that will receive a bid. I went through last year and while there are some who get cut from every house, most people who don’t receive a bid are ones who drop the process. If you do not get a bid, don’t freak out. Take some time and make friends with girls on campus and see if there is a sorority you connect to a lot. G Phi, Phi Mu, AXO, Alpha O, A D Pi, and SK all i know for a fact took continuous open bids in spring and sometimes in the fall as well.

GPB did NOT do COB. Get your facts straight.

Actually Gphi did spring recruitment so and took several girls that way. Maybe you wouldn’t call them COBs, but they went through the exact same process so that is what many girls in the sorority called them. So i would get your facts straight.

If you make it to the pref round you will get a bid if you put those houses, or that house, on your card. Maybe not your first choice, but you will get a bid!

Do you know if that will also be the case now that TCU is going down to 2 on pref round? I know that is the case if it maximized your options, but will that still be the case now that there are only two houses you are visiting? Seems to me that there would be a chance you are not high enough on both houses bid list, but i could be wrong.

It works the exact same way. The NPC is moving all schools in this direction because people are much more likely to stick with their second choice of two rather than a third choice of three.
