advice on being prepared

by:

I wanted to give some tips for PNMS as they get ready for recruitment. You can bring a tote which you leave outside while in the house and my year there was a list on here of things to bring that helped a lot. Here are things I'd bring: face blotters because it's HOT, a hand held fan, breath mints, a hand held mirror and lip gloss, powder and anything other makeup you might want to freshen up, a brush, blister pads. I hope this helps and maybe others can put up other things they found helpful.

You may think you don't need these things but you will be glad you came prepared. I suggest also bringing Advil and Benedryal to help you sleep during a stressful week.

Would not try Benedryl, or any sleep aid, unless you have used it before and know what it does to you. Its effect can last a lot longer than you think, and you might sleep through your alarm the next morning or not be able to wake up properly. That's the last thing you need; not getting up on time and being groggy getting ready and at your first couple of parties.

Stay hydrated, bring anything that will help you feel good throughout the day like a protein bar, make-up touch up kit, flat shoes to wear or change into, breath mints, wear a hairstyle that can make it in wind or heat and stay confident and excited about all your invites instead of getting upset about a group you didn't get a invite to.

After going through this I cannot express how hOt it will be. Stay hydrated. Every year someone gets woozy or passes out from lack of water. I'd bring a iced water bottle for sure. You get drinks in the houses but they are not always hydrating drinks.

No one is focusing you to rush. It is very hot in Texas in August. People to get tense about what houses will invite them back and some have trouble sleeping. We are just trying to help you be prepared. If being hot and nervous for 5 days is too hard for you stay GDI. If you want to be a part of the over 50% of students who join the Greek community here then there are good tips for those who want to be ready.

The best advice: be really hot. Like 4k+ instagram followers hot. Failing that very wealthy parents. Dress hot, date a hot older guy from your hometown if he's in SAE, Kappa Sig, or Phi Delt and have recs from camp friends and parents of camp friends.

Have each days outfit ready and pulled together before the week begins. You can ask your RHo Gam if you question anything.
Drinks water and bring a hand fan to stay cool
Breath mints, face blotters,Advil, shoes you can wear all day or flats to change into
Journal for your private thoughts at the end of each day because all the interaction can blur if you dont

This is a great thread. I would also include a stay all day lip stick and consider wearing your hair up off your neck on the most informal and long days.
