recruitment process
by: meI'm so happy to be accepted into TCU's class of 2021. I'm thinking about coming here and maybe going Greek. I'm from Kansas City, and I don't know anyone in the TCU Greek system. A lot of the girls from KC are Chi Os, but I don't exactly know them personally. I'm also a first-generation American with Ethiopian parents, so I'm not a legacy at all. I love TCU, but if I don't know anyone well enough, will I be at a disadvantage during recruitment. Also, I've heard that TCU is very into appearances. Is this true? I'm not a model and I have a big nose. I'm pretty dark-skinned too. Should I consider not coming to TCU, not going Greek, or maybe waiting until continuous open bidding or my second semester? Thanks :)

congrats on tcu! don't worry at all about knowing anyone during recruitment--I only knew two people during recruitment (and not well) and it turned out great for me! if you aren't a legacy and you don't know anyone, i would suggest looking for rec letters from an alum of each chapter at TCU. that way the chapters can get to know you more. if you don't personally know any alums of any of the sororities, you can usually contact the local office for the sorority where you live and get a rec that way. recs are one of the best ways o show a chapter that you're invested in and excited about learning about them and meeting them during recruitment! Some chapters at tcu are focused on appearances, but most are focused more on your values, grades, personality, interest, etc. so you'll find a chapter that fits well with you! if you do come to tcu, i would definitely suggest rushing because even if you hate it after one or two rounds, you can always drop and enter into continuous open bidding or spring rush. most likely, you'll be able to find a house that you love, so take a chance in going through recruitment!
good luck with everything!

It won't matter. Just go into rush with an open mind and heart and you will find your home. Don't listen to gossip or rankings or anything else. In general, our recruitment process works really well and PNMs end up in a chapter with a great fit. Just remember that a sorority that's a great fit for one person isn't for another and the sororities have a really good feel for who will fit into their chapter best. You will have a great sorority experience at TCU no matter where you end up. Good luck!
