dropping

If I dropped my current house before initiation because I don't fit in, will other houses count that against me during recruitment next year?

Probably. Unless you have a serious BFF in another house, I do not recommend dropping.

It is always a gamble to drop out but of course once you go through initiation that pledge is for life so it is an important decision. Why do you think you would have a better outcome as a Sophpmore? Having friends in a house does help but it is no gaurentee. Things could go worse...I would suggest considering fully committing to the chapter that wanted you. Help improve the chapter and make the effort to find girls you can feel like are sisters. As you move up in your classes you will see how girls from all houses become friends within their major coursework. No one can decide but you but dropping does defiantly come with risk of being GDI which is difficult at TCU since our Greek community is huge on campus.

The response above has wonderful advice. Really think this over before you leave a house that welcomed you.

Why do you think you'll have better results going through as a soph? Freshman is the best chance to get where you belong. As a soph who dropped someone else, a lot of houses aren't going to want you.

If you drop, word WILL get out. It's actually very common and normal for pledges to feel like an outsider at first. You might see other girls clicking right away but I guarentee you not everyone is like that. Sisterhood takes time to build and grow. Don't judge until you actually experience recruitment on the other side, AS A SISTER. Once you understand, trust me, you will change. Recruitment will definitely bring you closer to your sisters. If you're lucky, you'll get the best little ever out of it. Just relax and give it a chance. It doesn't matter what sorority you try to hop to, this happens in ALL of them. Even the bottom tier.
