Ok....this is going to sound bad but it is just being honest.....I go to one of top private schools and camps in the state. Girls from my school go to Waldemar, Mystic, and Longhorn and pledge top chapters at all of the other Texas schools. Pretty much PKT exclusively at UT and SMU and Tri Delta and KKG exclusively for the few who go to ATM. Not to be snooty but we are highly recruited at those schools. Those are unquestionably the top chapters at those schools and this site reflects that. The ones who come to TCU from my school and camp all want KKG the most with Tri Delta as the second choice. In fact, every year we hear about girls crying who don't get KKG here. I don't understand how this site can have KKG and Tri Delt ranked so low? it makes me wonder who ranks on here from TCU? Is it because so many out of state kids come here wanting different chapters?

who cares about what's top at other schools, every greek system is different

I think this site is completely and totally wrong for TCU. The same mid/bottom tier chapters are the only ones on it and they post over and over. Go through rush. You will be able to tell.

kappa and tri delt especially are strong sororities in the south and at other schools but they are not ranked high for TCU's campus because they aren't the best sororities. That doesn't mean they aren't great sororities, they just aren't the top ones. Every school is different.

But so why do girls from top Texas schools and camps still want them?

By: Ok.

by: @OK.

Because they only want what they know. They are more comfortable following than branching out, making new friends, and leaving their high school behind them. They think sororities that are mostly Texas are more exclusive (they are not). The women from California, the MidWest, and New England are fine taking the spots the Highland Park girls turn their noses up to. Knock yourself out fighting over TriDelt and Kappa. No one is losing sleep over those Texas-desired houses. There's a sorority for everyone.

The world is a lot bigger than church camp in Texas. The chapters you listed are fine but depend on girls with your same uninformed attitude and do little here. There are much stronger chapters but everyone has a home and it sounds like you need to stick with your church camp friends. I'm not hating just speaking the truth.

Is that what she is talking about? Church camps? WTF?

Waldemar, Mystic, and Longhorn are not church camps.

They are summer camps with an emphasis on faith. I'm not saying it's good or bad but yes they are summer camps for children through high schoolers. This girl lives in a very small bubble. No matter where she goes to college, it will be an eye opener.

You sound ignorant. There are a few amazing, elite camps in the United States and Waldemar and Mystic are a two of them. Just because you haven't heard of them doesn't mean they don't exist or deserve to be sneered at. They are not church camps......wait lists are years long. Many girls are put in them at birth because their mothers loved them so much they want to ensure their daughters get to go.

You don't seem to understand the point. People don't need to research private camps! You are so small minded you think people have to value what you value. The real world has few people who attend private camp nor want to. Just like few people think DDD or KKG are "top" because they recruit before recruitment from this small group. Neither chapter is well respected here. That's the point of the entire thread.

Who sounds bitter now! The original questions was 'at my top private school', 'girls at my private school attend these private camps and are highly recruited by these groups' SO why aren't they top...they aren't top because all those points are irrelevant to the majority of people in this world and in 2016 it takes more than a name to be 'top' at TCU. If you want to stay in this small mindset and join these groups because of your 'private school' prespection, you are correct you have every right to do both but don't think others are impressed. I am a proud Texan but I'm also proud that at TCU that it takes actions and respectable behavior to be a 'top' chapter. Those are qualities that will take you to higher places in the real world of the workplace that we are preparing to join. Finally, I have friends in both KKG and DDD so my comment does not imply they do not have nice girls BUT any open minded person must concede they are not our strongest chapters.

There are many opinions on what makes a sorority the "best" and that is why this website is pointless.

The OP clearly thinks that chapters with wealthy girls from Texas, and more specifically her "top private high school" are the best sororities. That's fine. She is entitled to that opinion.

Others at TCU think that chapters who have close sisterhoods, or are active on campus, or have all the hot girls, or are the smartest, or do the most philanthropy, or have the top return rates during recruitment makes a chapter top. That's fine too as all those are very valid reasons to make a chapter desirable.

There is no top sorority because there is no consensus definition to what makes one chapter better than any other. When people rank on this site it is generally a combination of all these factors but even then different weight being placed on the different variables will create a very different ranking.

Because kappa and tri delt suck here. Just because they're good other places doesn't mean they're good here. No one is going to be impressed with you stupid camp or private school here. This school is full of privileged people and you're just one of the crowd.

I do agree "annoying" was harsh but what she wrote was truthful just not with words that reflect well on her. I'm actually grateful the OP posed her question so others can see the scam, under the table schemes these sororities engage in. It is presented that recruitment does not begin until the week ALL girls arrive. The irony is we all know those few houses that pre-select are not the best nor well liked at TCU. That makes me proud of our university and speaks to how in the real world, branching out leads to personal growth.

Honestly, the rankings on this site are erratic. If you knew how chapters placed in recruitment, then you would see DDD, XO, KKG, KAT having the most selective pledge classes. (Selective in that panhellenic allowed them to invite back the smallest number of girls on pref) So in terms of desirability, DDD and KKG are up there. DDD and KKG fall off after recruitment though because they aren't as involved on campus as others. The rankings on this site really seem to focus on campus involvement.

RE: Girls at your school wanting KKG/DDD. These are both very Texas strong chapters. They have a history of recruiting girls from specific schools because they have active members already in the chapter that speak up for their friends--And it makes 100% sense!!!! All the other comments talking about you not branching out or whatever is mostly BS. I had one good friend in the chapter I ended up joining, but I CHOSE to join once I talked to other girls and could see myself there. It makes sense if you have friends in a chapter that you would get along with other people in that chapter. This is not DDD/KKG exclusive. If anyone denies that DG/PPB get a lot of girls from the same school in Cali, they would be lying.

Overall, everyone has a different reason for how they rank the houses. Try to come in for recruitment with an open mind about all the chapters you don't know people in. You might end up loving everyone you talk to in another house than DDD/KKG!!

By: OK Honestly...
by: LOL

Ha funny you think that. I'm the original poster and the selectivity during recruitment is true. Join your recruitment team and you will know the numbers Panhellenic gives out. I am not a member of KKG or DDD, I actually cut Kappa first round and was cut by DDD round 3. Sorry I was trying to give a response that could logically answers the OP's post about how these two chapters could be popular at her HS but not as "highly rated" on this site instead of just bashing her. Do I think KKG and DDD are on the same level as KAT and XO? Personally, no. Like I said, KKG and DDD fall off after recruitment due to lack of involvement.

Campus involvement is not the end all be all to some of us but it is the most important thing to the people who post on here the most. I personally wanted a great sisterhood and to have fun during college. I was also interested in big national chapters and since I will probably stay in Texas, chapters that are strong in Texas appealed to me. I understand completely that girls from out of state feel differently, of course, but they are sure being hateful about differing opinions. Nothing wrong with liking chapters for whatever reason. Also, anyone who is honest should admit that the four chapters mentioned above are the most talked about during recruitment.

Another honest answer for OP.
