are girls with learning difference bullied at tcu?

by:

I'm in the process of applying for colleges. TCU was high on my list because I had been told that they are very LD Friendly and I even got a recruitment letter from TCU. I thought TCU would be a fit, because I could possibly join a sorority too. When I googled it, I saw this page and it seemed like there are a lot of girls with LD, but they get bullied on this page. Do LD girls get bullied in real life at TCU? Please answer serious. Because I don't want to waste my time and money applying if they do.

In my opinion this school is really shallow. So if you are shallow and hot, they won't care if you have a learning disability. If you aren't hot, they will pretend it is about grades. I wouldn't apply to this school. It does have a lot of people with learning disabilities, but it is shallow.

I have a learning difference and I found my home in a great sorority here. My sisters are very understanding of my auditory processing issues and don't bark at me, if they have to tell me something several times and in different ways. I didn't disclose my LD before I was in my pledge class for about a month - I told everyone at a retreat. They were awesome about it. Don't let a few comments discourage you. TCU is a LD friendly school.

TCU is very LD positive. Don't worry about it. No discrimination here.

Part of the reason I came here was that I believed it would be an LD affirmative school. The school is. The Greek system not so much.

Nice "learning differences" you stupid hos. Of course TCU is "LD positive." They need suckers like your daddies to pay over 60k when you're too dumb to go to UT, A&M or SMU.

We're all learning disabled troglodytes. Don't forget your helmet sweetie.

Excuse me? Obviously you don't even go to this school. And SMU is more expensive than TCU. Clearly you are a mean person.

That word is very ableist and rude. You don't go here to school so get off our board.

Yes. There are a lot of girls in my sorority who claim to have Learning Disabilities. Some probably really do, and some probably just got them diagnosed so they could get special accommodations. TCU for the most part will accommodate. Are people bullied? Well, I have felt bullied at this school for not being a size zero, so I'm not sure what you mean by bullied.

You pay a doctor $1500 bucks to say you have a learning disability and then you get more time on the SAT. It's a pretty easy formula.

I have a learning disability and TCU has been a great school for me. I have gotten more support than I did in high school. I don't talk about it much with my sorority, but there are a lot of us with LD. Just hold your head high and no that your LD is part of who you are , but there are other parts of you too.

you might be ok in school with being coddled because you're too dumb to keep up, but no sorority wants someone who lowers our GPA because they're too stupid for college and use the dumb phrase "learning difference" to make them feel ok about their low IQ and abilities. Go somewhere else.

Just so you know, I'm already in a top sorority. I have both visual and auditory processing disorder. I have to audio tape my classes and then take them to a note taker to help me process. Because of bullies like you, I have to do it in private. Trust me, I don't bring down anyone's GPA. I'm one of the higher GPAs, so suck it.

You're just a dumb girl looking for special privileges. Everyone laughs at you behind your back. Good luck with that high gpa since it's probably something really difficult and useful like communications.

It can be difficult to find schools that support LD people. There are a few public schools that do, but other than that it is hard.
