i can't help but feel i chose the wrong house..

Hey everyone.
Well, recruitment has been done and over with for about a month now. I guess you can say I had a pretty successful recruitment. The last 3 houses I had on pref day were amazing. I was so torn between all of them and I could see a bit of myself in each one. Needless to say, I ended up listing my top 3 and I got my top house. Opening that card with the house on it was the best feeling ever, I can't even tell you how happy I was. However, now I'm wondering if I made the right decision. It's been hard for me to make close friendships and I feel like everyone in my PC has already found their group of friends. I feel like if I would've gone another direction and ended up in a different house, it would be different now... especially this on specific house because I'm already friends with a lot of them. I'm just not sure if I'm in my home :/ Is it possible to make the wrong decision, or do you truly end up where you are supposed to be? How was making friends for you when you first became a member? Thanks.

You'll be fine. The biggest myth out there is you have 70 new best friends on day one. Totally not true. It takes time and effort to find your group within any house. You are fortunate to bond with other girls in other houses because that only multiplies your TCU experience. You get the best of both worlds. Strong friend groups should have members of multiple Greek houses as well as non Greeks.... The more, the merrier.

Give yourself time sounds Parental but it's true. Even if you got your top choice you wouldn't know anyone and would have to go out of your comfort zone. Every chapter can only take x number of girls so you are in the norm. Plus, all those 'top house' girls that overflowed quota inner up just like you. You get out of it what you allow yourself to get. If it's awful just don't do formal initiation .

You have to realize that for whatever reason you were not ranked high enough by the house you admire. People can't really know you during the hectic week of recruitment but no one should feel disappointed that they were wanted by a different house. The chapters here do have differences but each house has like kind of sub groups. Be open to finding the likeminded girls in the house that wanted you. Any house is what you make of it.

I think perhaps you're having buyer's remorse. This is pretty common. You build up to rush during your senior year and the summer before college. You're so excited. Recruitment is exhilirating and exhausting. Then it's over.
Did you make the right decision? Should you drop out and have a do over? It seems like it was over too soon and you have all these unresolved feelings.
Stick with it and throw yourself into your house. Look at it as your only chance.

I hope you are feeling better about your choice now. It does take time to find like minded girls in your class. Every chapter has every type of girl though. Go to all your meetings, socials, volunteer to help when possible. You can make this your home. Just getting settled away from home at college is a big adjustment for most people. Wishing you luck.
