do sororities have a formal recruitment in the spring too or is it only informal? if so, how does that work?

its only informal, only a few sororities do it. A sorority will announce to its members if and when it will be going through informal rush, they'll ask the members to give them the contact info of people who might be interested, the sorority will contact the interested person, they will go to coffee or do something else low-key, and then they will either get a bid or not!

I know that DG and AXO had it last year, because two girls in my dorm joined those houses. But they were really private about it.

Any chapter could hold spring recruitment. If a chapters have a lot of Christmas graduation, drops ... and get to a lower membership number they can hold spring recruitment. You usually have to know members to be asked. Spring recruitment is not an open process nor is a group holding it one year a gaurentee they will hold it this year.

Any group can hold spring recruitment if their membership numbers have fallen for any reason. These recruitments are not made known to the known though. These are private recruitments requiring that you know someone within the chapter.

You will need to do some investigative work on this because spring recruitment is not announced, there are limited slots and you pretty much have to know someone.

All houses can hold spring recruitment if they need to plump up their numbers due to lost members. Let your Greek friends know you are interested because you will need to know someone. Spring can be an excellent time to join a house but it is never a given.

Yes they do. Any house that wants to boost their numbers can hold a spring recruitment. Talk to your Greek friends to let them know you are interested because without connections you won't even know about it much less get a bid.

If you get well connected this can be a excellent way to get into a top house without the super stress of recruitment. Meet as many sorority girls as possible this semester and let them know you want to join them if their group has spring recruitment. The girls won't know until Christmas break if they will have spring rush but get plugged in now.
