What kind of questions should I be asking the actives? Any talking tips I should think about bringing up? Just rush convo advice would help!

well basically anytime we ask you a question about you, you should ask us the same question right back. there are things you're supposed to talk about on each day like philanthropy, academics, leadership but if you're having a great convo on something off topic thats just fine! obviously don't talk about money, politics, boys or religion. Ask fun/unusual questions that will stand out!

It is weird that at a Christian University we can't talk about our faith.

I get that its just because those things are controversial and you want to appeal to the widest audience basically. Plus you should be talking about sisterhood explicitly ya know

These are social soroities. If you are looking for something more faith centered you should look into Eta Lota Sigma which is the Christian sorority on campus. This will be faith centered and they have bible study and other activities like that together. They are not part of formal recruitment though

This entire school is Christian. It is in the name. We shouldn't have to be shoved into one group.

Yes a lot of girls in our sororities are religious but you're missing the point! This is about sisterhood! Join HIS (eta iota sigma) or other religious organizations. That is the definition of a sisterhood rooted in Christ. Our sororities are not, they are about friendship, love, and service. And just bc the word Christian is in the name definitely doesn't mean everyone at TCU is Christian or even religious at all for that matter.

But having the word Christian in the title does mean that we get to be Christian and not hide.

okay listen, a ton of girls in my sorority are super religious and obviously you are and thats great but that is not the focus for panhellenic sororities. no one is telling you to "hide" it just is not the appropriate time to talk about it. I have gone through this process before and I know how it works, you do not so just listen to me. If you choose to talk about religion during rush, thats your choice but I'd think you could go 5 days without talking about it.

There is a Greek wide Bible Study and most, if not all, chapters have in house Bible studies too. I didn't know speaking of my faith was tabboo, so I did when it fit the conversation and I am in a top house. It's all in the way you present yourself. I understand now that Politics, Money, Faith are personal topics so I would suggest those not being your "go to" topics but if something fits in your conversation, be true to yourself. I'm not in a hard core party house and maybe me mentioning my faith made me not fit in as well there but that isn't who I am. Your conversations shouldn't be contrived. Things work out.

There are a lot of different varieties of Christian. Some are super evangelical and conservative and some are very liberal and into social causes. Some Christians are private and don't like to "witness" to girls they don't know. Others are just the opposite. Catholics are Christan, Southern Baptists are Christian, Unitarians are Christians, and so are Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormans. That's why it's not a good idea to want to talk about the specifics of your faith. You need to be more well rounded to be in a sorority than just interested in your own religion. In every house there will be girls you'll get to know later who mesh with your brand of faith. Just don't assume everyone does.

Also, don't argue with people who are trying to help you answer a question you asked. You're being rude and not taking advantage of advice being offered to you.
