how does this process work?

they will go over all of this I believe at the orientation meeting on the Saturday night before. There are 4 rounds; the first round is Sunday and Monday, second round is Tuesday, third is Wednesday, fourth (pref) is Thursday. After each round, you will rank the sororities. You go to all houses in the first round, half Sunday, half Monday. You go to a maximum of 9 houses on Tuesday, a maximum of 6 houses on Wednesday and a maximum of 3 houses on Thursday. Each morning, your rho gammas will give you a paper with all of the houses you were invited back to, you'll know which ones cut you bc they won't be on your paper. Each day, depending on how many houses you still have you will have to cut houses. For example, say I went to all 9 houses on Tuesday, I have to cut 3 houses (assuming other ones won't cut me) so that you can go back to 6 houses tomorrow. You simply list your favorite 6 houses in no order but your 3 least favorite you will rank. If any of those 6 houses you liked cut you, you will go back to the houses you don't like in the order in which you ranked them. For example, 1 house cut me so I will go back to my favorite least favorite house. Hope that makes sense

yes! the commit above is right and the reason why the sororities are in charge even though its called mutual selection is because the sororities know better if you would get along with the current girls in the house or have things in common with them it really does work out well for most people it is a scary time and super emotional but you'll be happy with the outcome and happy you went through rush

Here is an example of how it works. Let’s say it’s the round before preference where a PNM can be invited to and attend up to six sorority parties. Let’s imagine our PNM has a full invite list of six, and we will call the sororities A, B, C, D, E and F. The PNM can return receive invites to a maximum of three parties the next day for preference. The PNM liked A, B and C the best and those are the ones she wants to return to in a perfect world. This is how the PNM ranks them after the parties:
#1 A
#1 B
#1 C
#4 D
#5 E
#6 F
The next day, the PNM’s invite list looks like this:
B
E
___
She was invited to only two preference parties. This means she wasn’t high enough on the list for A, C, D and F. So she was cut by some sororities she liked the most and liked the least. The reason we know that is if she was high enough on any of those other sororities’ invite lists, she would have had a full schedule with three parties. (On the other hand, if she’d been invited to three parties A, B and E, then we know she wasn’t high enough on C and D’s lists. We don’t know about E because her schedule filled up with her preferred sororities before the computer got to their list.)

You will only go back to the houses that you ranked lowest if they invite you back though. Don't assume those houses will want you. That's how you end up with fewer invites each day than the maximum.
The thing to remember is PNMs don't cut houses. You can want a sorority all you want but if they cut you you're done with them. They call it mutual selection but really the sororities are in charge.
