be careful what you say to your rho gamma- really

by:

Dear PNMs,
Your Rho Gamma is in a particular sorority. And she is looking out for the interest of her sorority. She is also friends with a lot of people in all the sororities and she will talk to them. She is there to help you. But you must be careful what you say to her. Assume anything you say will get back to the house you are talking about. If you need someone to bounce ideas and opinions off, your Rho Gamma is not that person. Call somebody that you trust who is no where near the campus. If you say anything bad about a house, it will probably get back to them, and even other houses. Treat your Rho Gamma like anyone else on the rush floor. Really . Just be nice. Be polite. Don't give opinions. Everything is great.

When you put your houses in order make sure you say, "I love all the houses, I don't want to put these in order. But I guess I have to put them in order so 1) Sorority A, 2) Sorority B..... " etc. Then you end it with something like, "I love all the houses, and it was so hard to put them in order. I'm not dropping in of the houses. I love them all. I would be happy anywhere."

And that is it!!!! Give no opinions. Give no reasons why you are ordering them in the particular order etc.

Trust me. You don't want to be quoted saying anything.

Yes they do. I personally chose to pay a rush consultant because I wanted a safe place to talk. But now, I probably wouldn't even trust them. Things have a way of getting back to people. Talk to your mom, sister, cousin , best friend etc who is way far away.

Just basic questions. Like "where is the _________?_" , "what time is the party?" etc. NOTHING of controversy or opinion. Your Rho Gamma is reporting back regardless of what Panhellenic says. Why do you think they give up their summer?

BUMP THIS PLEASE. THINK ABOUT IT: WHO THE HECK GIVES UP THEIR SUMMER AND POSSIBLE JOB OPPORTUNITIES TO HANG OUT WITH YOU? A FEW OF THEM ARE REALLY PANHELLENIC PEOPLE, BUT MOST JUST WANT TO BUMP THEIR OWN SORORITY. DON'T SAY ANYTHING OFF CENTER TO THEM. NOTHING.

This is something girls should see before recruitment. It isn't that Rho Gammas are bad and out to get you but they are human and they can't help but watching out for their own house. Like others have said just keep your conversations positive or use them for general info. You should tell your most inner thoughts to any stranger and in a way, that is what a Rho G is. She doesn't know you but is a guide. It's that simple.

Rho Gammas are your advocates! They are there to be the PNMS support system. Of course it is best not to speak badly to ANYONE about houses but it is unfair and harmful to try to make PNMs paraniod about these women who are there to help them.
