rushing as a transfer sophomore

by: sophomorerushee

I will be transferring to TCU as a sophomore this fall and I will be participating in recruitment. I have friends from other universities that have briefed me a little bit about the rush process, but I have some TCU specific questions. How does TCU handle sophomores during recruitment? Also which houses will be the most concerned about high grades and keeping up academics? I feel like I'm relying on my grades to get me through recruitment.

Being a transfer sophomore isn't a big deal. If you're not a beast and keep an open mind you should get a bid.

Grades are important to almost everyone but won't help you if you don't really fit into a house otherwise. GPhi, Theta and AXO are usually the most difficult when it comes to GPA but just having a high GPA won't be enough.

I went through rush as a junior transfer from a community college. I love the sorority that I got into and I didn't even have super high grades. Give it a try. But keep an open mind.

All houses have upperclassmen quotas to fill so if you are attractive and personable you should be fine. Lower grades aren't a plus with the top academic chapters but there are still lots of houses to join.

Lower grades are never a plus. But if you are gorgeous, nobody cares either way.

That's not true at all. Grades matter A LOT to some of our houses. It doesn't matter how attractive you are, you won't get a bid to my house (which is one of the top tier ones and always in contention for the highest GPA) unless you meet out GPA requirement. I am a rising senior and it has been this way in my house since I've been a member. Don't speak for things you don't know anything about!

Umm . EXCEPT GRADE DON'T MATTER THAT MUCH. STOP TRYING TO SCARE AWAY HOT GIRLS.

Haha you're funny. Grades do matter to a lot of us. Sorry if you're in one of the desperate bottom tier sororities that takes dumb girls.

Is important with so much completion but so is being real put together, having the ability to speak well with all types of people and having poise. It all matters. Being a Junior is the least part of the equation so do not let that scare you off.

A strong GPA and resume is much more important to getting a good bid than being a upperclassmen. I wouldn't worry about that a all.
