rec letters

by:

Can it hurt your chances going through rush if you don't have a letter of recommendation for every house? I've search as well as I can and my city doesn't have a Panhellenic Council. I'm only missing recs for 3 of the 13 sororities.

It could hurt you with those houses which you don't have. Each chapter gets their own packets & won't know about what other chapters receive. Get your parents, aunts, teachers, older sister or friends to ask their colleagues or Facebook friends too. A local Pan Association is just one resource. REC letters are an introduction to the chapter before they meet you so they certainly help.

I agree because they are studied before recruitment

Get your mom, aunts, sisters ... To put out a Facebook request & you will be shocked how quick you can get REC letters.

The website states REC letters are not required but I strongly advise all girls to do whatever they can to get them because the completion is SO strong here I do think it will hurt you if you do not have them. At a less competive school or one with smaller numbers going through recruitment things would be different.

They have to say that to seem inclusive but we all know that isn't the truth. Not having recs will seriously affect a PNM's invites. With so many PNMs coming from other places and knowing no one, recs are the only way we can start to get to know you before recruitment. Who do you think we will invite back after first party, the PNM we spoke to for a couple of minutes or the one we had a rec on and knew a lot more about?

If you don't have a rec you are giving us an easy reason to cut you since almost everyone else will have one. Don't risk it. Recruitment is too competitive here to not even have the basic requirements.

Yes, not having REC letters can hurt you. There have several good ways to get them recommended on here. I would also ask coaches, teachers, co-workers, siblings friends and of course any current college students you know. Try to get 2 or 3 per house.

Recs help introduce you to the chapters before recruitment begins. You defiantely want these for any house you want a chance at.
