That may be the case for sororities, but there is no such thing for fraternities.

So that means you can't rush as a sophomore/junior for frats? Or they don't care about classification as long as you're chill?

I would say they definitely don't care if you're a sophomore as long as you're cool/they like you. As a junior, they may be more hesitant when giving you a bid since you'll only be around for two years. You'll also be two years older than people you're pledging with and you'll definitely see a difference in interests/maturity than freshman. Either way, I'd advise you to rush and see for yourself.

No one is saying not to try it but your mindset should be advanced from boys right out of high school and this might not be your best fit.
