advice

by: help

hey guys I need some advice... So I'm one who did not get her first choice, but is trying to stick it out and trying to get comfortable with the house. I really am trying too but I still feel like this house is not for me.. I am not really connecting at all with any of the older sisters or my pc. I don't know when/if I should just drop and maybe try next year. I just don't want to waste both my parents money and my money/time knowing I am not 100% sure I want to be in the house. I also know that the possibly of re-rushing and getting a house I enjoy more is very slim and no I am not trying to get into a "top tier." Should I wait until the end of this month or drop now? I also have to wait a whole another year to rush and tbh I really don't have much friends so that means a whole another year of kind of being alone I don't know what to do please help!

Your new member educator in confidence. No chapter wants new members to drop and since classes are so big it's hard for them to have your finger on the pulse of everyone. I am SURE she will care and likely will be able to connect you to other sisters who you'd probably click wtih for a coffee date, etc. she also might be able to change up some of the activity you guys are doing so there's more small group stuff where you will really get to know the other NMs. At the end of the day, trust your gut....but don't drop silently, with nobody having the opportunity to try and connect better with you!

The advice above is spot on. Why are you not connecting with the other sisters? Are they all quiet and you're a social butterfly? Do they not seem friendly?

Asking to try and give you some additional advice.

I don't know I just feel awkward I know we are still in the new member period, but I don't know I'm not feeling the vibe? and yeah some of the girls I was trying to talk to in my pc were not friendly at all... I honestly don't think I can find your so-called friends for life in this house, but I don't know I am trying to stick it out because if I don't I am back to square one which really sucks but if I am not happy and just doing it that is also not good. I want like advice from people who are may be in the same situation or have been through something like this because i don't want to be that person who has to go to their new member educator because frankly i don't think its gonna help and will only cause more problems.

Okay. This is going to sound different from everyone else here.

But I am someone who has stuck it out @ my second choice.... and honestly... it was my biggest regret. It was not a great experience at all. And this was supposed to be one of the "nice houses", but it just did not work. I know it makes sense to give it a chance, but for how long?? Don't wait until things get much worse. If it doesn't fit, it doesn't fit.

There is nothing wrong with trying again. You will know a lot more and be a lot more prepared the second time around. I highly recommend going through it again, and this is coming from someone who really really tried to make it work. I wish I had made the decision to rush again.

yeah that's a reason why I want to drop because I have the opportunity to try again cause I know once I am initiated that's it... when you mean by "nice houses" does that mean a middle-low tier or like a "nice" house as in looks? again I really don't care about tiers and are you sophomore? Everyday this is all I think about because I just don't want to make a big mistake...

At this point you've stuck it out for a couple of weeks. If you're still unhappy, then drop! There's no shame in that because you gave the sorority a fair chance. If you rush next year maybe you'll find a home that's a better fit.

Yeah when I say "nice house", I mean a middle tier/lower middle tier house that is supposed to have very "nice" girls.... So honestly, just because you hear that everyone in that house is nice, or that they are genuine, or that they all love each other, that just doesn't make it true. Because it was not. And even if everyone is nice, that doesn't mean you'll automatically be a fit.
