sophomore rush
by: FreshCan someone just be straight up with me? I dropped during rushing because the house I got back were ones I felt completely uncomfortable with when I had a wow factor at other houses. My decision had nothing to do with rank because that honestly means nothing to me. Will I get cut from houses formally rushing as a sophomore solely because of my grade? And can any one who rushed as a sophomore vouche for me as to how the process went for them?

honestly, you should have just gone through the rest of recruitment. When you go through recruitment you only speak you tops maybe 15 or so girls and out of 120+ people, that is a really small fraction of the chapter. Yes you might have felt uncomfortable, I understand, but if you spoke to even 1 or 2 girls you liked, often times that means there are girls in the chapter just like her. I would honestly contact Panhell and see if there is anyway you can be apart of a chapter, otherwise you will need to wait until the fall semester and not all the chapters do fall recruitment.

Hi - I rushed as a sophomore and knew girls rushing as freshman so I am able to compare the experiences of both.
I noticed after day one I was cut from 5-6 houses and they were not just "top tier" ones either. It was ones where I mentioned that I was a sophomore and I wanted to go abroad. Obviously some were houses that just weren't gonna be a good fit for me like kappa for example. I noticed my freshman friends for the most part got called back to 7-8 houses vs my 5-6. as it got to pref round, I had only one house left and it was one that is considered middle tier but I had been trying to drop from day one. Most of my freshman friends had 2-3.
Now take this how you will. Maybe I wasn't as "chill" or "cool" as some of my friends and that's why I got cut. I like to think of myself as somewhat normal, nice, pretty, smart, etc and the system didn't work well for me as a sophomore.
If you're really interested in joining a sorority, I would be very receptive if ANY house reaches out to you to snapbid or go through informal rush in the fall. Otherwise, take your chances rushing as a sophomore. You'll still get a chance but some houses may be quicker to cut you.
