now i'm worried about gpa...

by: Thx

I'm interested in a top house, among others, but I have a 2.8 GPA. I don't understand how it's fair to cut a girl with a difficult major, and not cut a girl with a fingerpainting major and a 3.7.

Thx,

A 2.8 isn't great, but like you said, you have a difficult major. Make that known during your recruitment conversations. Be vocal about it! If we have a reason that you aren't 4.0 student then it makes us more willing to request that our Nationals allow you to receive a bid even with a lower GPA. Don't stress about it. The houses that want you will do whatever it takes to get you!

This doesn't get said often on here...but thank you!! That made me feel a lot better. I have a ton of other great things to offer, it's not my fault one class brought me down!

I am not sure what the Panhel minimum GPA is, but many chapters have a somewhat higher standard than Panhel sets. I know for my chapter you would be "safe" with a 2.8. As the previous poster said though, there isn't really a way around the GPA cutoff with internationals.....it's mandated. If you fall below, you WILL be cut after the first round. No gray area there.

If you can't handle your grades maybe focusing on that before taking on a huge responsibility like joining a sorority is a better idea..
