rush

I'm assuming you're a freshman. So there's two weekends of formal recruitment. The first day you go to all the houses for just a little time and learn a little about each chapter. At the end of the day you choose three houses to cut. This doesn't mean it's all your choice, every house cuts girls too and it's more up to them. The second day you get a list of houses that you've been asked back to (nine at most). You spend a little more time and learn more about each chapter. You process and once again drop three at the end of the day.
The second weekend you get asked back to six at most and you go on a tour of their houses and stay at each house you've been asked back to longer. End of the day you choose the houses you want to "pref" at. I can not stress this enough though: it's more up to the girls in the chapters than it is up to the PNMs to decide who goes where. The last day of Rush is pref round and you go to three chapters at most and spend an hour at each one. They show you a bit of a ritual that cues you into what their sisterhood is built around. Usually this round is a little emotional. After that you process and rank whatever houses you have left and then that night the chapters make their final pledge classes and the next day is bid day and you get to run to your new home. Yay!
