Is the 2.5 gap really strict? Should i even bother registering if i don't have it and only have around a 2.2? I'm a freshman, should I just wait until next year? I heard you usually don't get a bid as a sophomore.

Yes, if you register with below a 2.5 you will get an email that Panhel has removed you from recruitment and you will not get your $50 back. I suggest spending the semester getting your grades up and then either do informal in the fall or wait until next spring

How would I go about doing informal rush?

A handful of sororities will do informal each fall depending on the size of the senior class they graduated. I would recommend getting to know girls who join these as it's usually word of mouth with the exception of DPhiE. If you do informal you won't get to see all of the sororities though so it's up to you if that's something that matters to you.

They are strict, I talked to the people at FASA about it; you have to register online and if you don't have the 2.5, you'll get an email saying you're not eligible. You can get a bid as a sophomore (for both frats and sororities), they have to meet quotas that include age. If you're rushing a frat, you can rush in the fall, but most sororities only rush in the spring.
