Does it make a difference if my older sister was in a srat here, if she's already graduated? Some of the current girls in the house definitely still know her.

This depends less on your sister's role and rep in the srat and more on how you connect with actives during recruitment. However, IMO your connection may get you through to philanthropy round as a courtesy if they're not seeing you in your new member class.

If we made it past the go Greek cuts for a rly competitive house, how likely is it we make it to house tours assuming we rank that sorority first.

It's really impossible to tell because it depends on where they rank you. However, I wish you the very best of luck and hope you get an invitation to that house for house tours!

So far it's been really stressful, although I feel like I've had good convis everywhere, but even so I got cut some places I really liked. How do I know if I I'm really being considered or if they're just being nice?

By: ahhhhhhhhh
by: well

You don't, really. That's why it's important to treat every conversation the same---be enthusiastic and authentic.

Is re rushing as a sophomore with like 0 connections to any girls in sororities, not rlly posting on insta, not being super bubbly worth it or will I honestly get back a couple chill houses at most?

By: hey
by: so

I went through as a sophomore and had no issues, didn't have a ton of connections in houses either. You don't have to be "bubbly" but be engaged and sociable and do your best to make real connections but not be fake.....you'll do just fine.

Yes- but what are you looking for? If you ONLY want a top house and will only be happy with that, it may be harder in your situation. Or if you want to make new friends and have shared experiences, and experience sisterhood, you can find that as a sophomore during recruitment. Just stay open and honest with yourself, and see where the process takes you. GL!

How do they decide who gets cut? Like I know there is a ranking but do they also vote??? Can u elaborate?

By: Hiii
by: RG

There's no one way that this happens, so I can only speak generally. Every house has a different method for deciding their list to be asked back. There is an element of voting with all houses, but in some houses, the recruitment team and or sometimes even alumni help to rank the list. In all cases, it definitely helps if you have people in the house who want you and speak up for you, especially if its an officer or a sister with influence.

Here's where it's tricky, the house's list matches back to the PNM's and their own ranks. So the most competitive houses fill up quickly - PNM can be a spot down on the list and miss the cut. So when you get cut from a house, because everyone does, it's not because they didn't want you, it's just because you were further down the list when it closed. It's a numbers game.

Is it one girl that ranks u? Is it all the girls u talk to?

Typically anyone who talked to you in a specific round can vote on you, and those votes are all weighed equally.

if I had a rly rly good connection in go Greek and it’s a senior on exec can she vouch for me for house tours

By: Sleepyyy
by: RG

Yes, in this instance, a senior on exec saying good things about you could be helpful. Every house is different as to how they evaluate and decide how they rank their list. It's a combination of factors, and every conversation you have contributes, but certainly someone in a leadership role is usually very respected.

please do not ask greek rank your questions PNMs, ask your RHO GAMMA. if someone finds out you are writing things on greek rank, you will be cut immediately

By: um
by: yup

It's important to follow the rules, and no one wants to get dropped for any reason. Just know that everything will be OK. Focus on finding a group of girls that you feel comfortable with. Rank and stuff like that really doesn't matter in the long run.
