Those houses know many of the girls are interested in before rush, and they rank the girls they are interested in, and any they meet recruitment that they like, as the highest on their list. So if your friends didn't really vibe with anyone or wasnt on their radar before recruitment, they were likely ranked lower on the invitarion list. Because so many PNMs want those houses back, the list for philanthropy was full before they made it to where your friends were on the list, so they didn't make it to the next round. The process is more challenging with the competitive houses because they start rush with a knowledge of PNMs they are interested in, and there's not much room on the invitation list left after that.
