PNMs Read This re: 'Rankings'
by: ottaEvery year it's the same thing. Before recruitment--and all year really--GR goes crazy with variations of sorority rankings. Rankings don't matter. Repeat: rankings...don't...matter. Yes, there are certain houses that do more socially and have girls that are more 'traditionally pretty and popular." That does NOT mean these groups are better than everyone else or that any other chapter is 'irrelevant.' As an alum (come at me for being on here, I really don't care. I'd lay a bet you'll still check out GR once in a while when you graduate...you'll see, lol.), I can tell you looking back that the best thing a PNM can do and what I had done better at is ignore the hive mind and gossip about this or that house. Every year, SO many girls are swayed into shutting down amazing sisterhoods and losing out on something incredible because they deem specific chapters as 'below then' according to this stupid website or chatter among their recruitment groups. And every year, for this reason, girls drop out of recruitment, get cut, or end up in a mismatched house and have major regrets. There should be no such thing as FOMO regarding this or that house. I know I'm speaking into the abyss but maybe someone will pay attention. In the real world, none of this s matters. You're gonna work with people of all types and NOBODY...NOBODY cares if you were in a 'top-tier' house. Do you want to look back and regret having a Greek Life experience b/c you wouldn't dare be matched with anyone besides Alpha Phi or Kappa? Do you actually think that there aren't going to be girls just like you in DPhi or Theta? There are girls of every type in every house---those who were popular in high school, those who are stuck up and only care about appearances, those who are kind, those who are smart, those who are funny, those whose parents are loaded. Every type in every place. Focus on yourself and where you feel a true connection. Ignore the rest. But be kind and engaged with every single member in every single chapter. THAT is how you find your fit. Good luck!
