End of year sorority rankings

by:

As recruitment gets close, it’s important to remember what the rankings on this site really reflect and who is writing these rankings. Rankings are written by members of current sororities with a purpose, whether that is so make themselves look higher up, make sororities they feel they are in competition with look ‘lower’ or to perpetuate top house rankings. As for the rankings themselves, when you really dig deeply into what they are about, rank is based off of which sororities BOYS like the most. What makes a house a bottom house is if they do not party with many frats, and what makes a house a top house, is if the boys in a top house like to party with them. This is how simply it is. Rankings are based off of the opinions of men. With that being said, rankings have nothing to do with the qualities of friendships you will make, the fun you will have, or the genuineness of the girls, because these things cannot be quantified in a way that is rankable. In all houses you will have fun, in all houses you will make wonderful friends, and all the houses are different and great for different reasons. When I rushed I was so worried about rank and I was so worried about making sure I joined a house that went to good parties. The truth that no one really wants to say on here is that pretty much ALL of the houses hang out with a bunch of different frats, and when the clock strikes 12 and afters starts, it’s a free for all anyways. It’s easy to get caught up in the rankings on here, and difficult to block out the noise, but all the houses here are lovely and have amazing girls and at the end of the day, the experience between all of them really isn’t that different. take everything on here with a grain of salt, the rankings, the self rank accusations, the gossip, the rudeness; it all has a purpose to dilute you from making your own decision. I wish I knew that when I rushed. don’t let recruitment or anything on here make you feel bad about yourself, this is supposed to be fun, not a big competition where girls put other girls down.

Mhm!!! Most sororities mix with all frats so if social aspects are a factor in your decision (which is an obvious and understandable consideration), that’s not really a problem (unless you’re obsessed with dke…). I wish I could express how stressful rush is when in your head all you believe is that an offer only from a handful of sororities and access to only a fraction of the girls on campus will make your rush experience “worth it”

SO WELL SAID and SO SO TRUE! Focus on the conversations you have---which ones are natural and authentic? Could you see yourself going to grab coffee with the majority of sisters you talk to? (It's ok if you don't vibe as well with some...there are hundreds of girls in a house, not everyone is going to be best friends.) If you start to feel uncomfortable at a certain house, even if they are a "TOP HOUSE"....let them go. Focus on the places where you can really be yourself. That's how true friendships happen. But go into each round FULLY open minded to everyone on your list! You may be surprised in the very best way at the end of it.
