A real answer...most houses do have some girls they want to get in mind well before recruitment. Whether because of past connections (like someone from high school) or new friendships (being in class with a PNM, a sophomore rushing who already has good friends in the chapter) and, yes, sometimes for the clout (looks, money, intsa-fame, etc.). But it's NOT the whole bid list, far from it. And just because they want someone doesn't mean that someone wants them back. Rush is a two-way process, remember. Don't worry about comparing yourself to anybody else! It's said over and over, but there is a reason for that---go into the process with a TOTALLY open mind and be yourself 100%. You will know right away which houses aren't for you and which you could see yourself in. There might be some "ouch" moments where you are cut from a house you thought you vibed with. But 99% of the time, it's because you are being led to your real right fit sisterhood.

sooooooo helpful. i got cut from my top choice before round two and yes it hurt, but i literally can’t imagine myself anywhere else. i love my sisterhood like no other. :) I hope you all find it too!

No. You do not need to know someone in a house to get a bid. You just need to click with the people you meet there. Strong grades and leadership in several activities as well as a polished look will get their attention.
