fall sophomore transfer -
is rush in the spring? I want to transfer from a tx private school. my friends are all fake and I haven’t even rushed yet, looking for a fresh start!! the vibe for rushing at my school is super competitive with the houses etc, is chapman rush more laid back and MUTUAL?? like basically how competitive is it is what i’m asking... I know this shouldn’t matter about attending a school but trust me it’s a huge part socially!!! I can’t stop atleast thinking about it and I just want to get the hell outta texas. it’s miserable here.

Don’t come to Syracuse for a good rush experience. It’s super flawed up here. And honestly Greek life is kind of a mess. I have friends at NYU and they love their chapters. Check it out. Cuz Cuse low key sucks.

Syracuse will be a HUGE culture shock for you---both in terms of the weather and the type of people. The majority of students are from the Northeast with a TON from Jersey/Long Island/downstate. Greek life is competitive here, but not in the same was as like a huge southern school. It's a mutual selection process, but houses ALWAYS have the upper hand of who they want. You CAN have a social life without being Greek here, it's just a big part of campus culture. But if you make SU your choice, welcome and best wishes. You can absolutely rush either the limited amount of houses in the fall or in the spring. I did spring rush as a sophomore and ended up where I wanted to be.

It’s not going to be any less competitive than SMU but if you want to be a Theta here, you’ll have an easier shot.
