Truthfully, it completely depends. If you know a lot of girls in one house it's probably true they wrote you recommendations and you may get a big. If you rushed as a freshman and didn't end up with any houses you liked, however you were cut from a house you DID like, they might consider you again. It shows dedication! If you've never rushed before, don't have many friends in greek life, it's going to be tricky. Don't settle for any house that doesn't make you feel good!

you have to be great to get a bid like really great

I rushed as a sophomore and ended up in the house I wanted, which was NOT a "top tier." I also got asked to pref at a "top tier" though. So...it's really just about having confidence in who you are. Don't sweat if you don't have like 50000 BFFs who are Greek. Yes, that helps. But go into the process with an OPEN MIND and stay true to your heart and your gut. At the end of the day, you want to be where you fit best and will form REAL friendships with the women in that house. If you show everyone who you are during recruitment, are happy to be there, engaged and confident, I think you'll land somewhere great for you! Don't let people scare you that sophomores don't get bids.
