are ranks even a relevant or important thing

I feel like all I hear about on campus or see on here is just about ranks, and as a PNM the idea of not being 'top' or being 'bottom' seems to stress a lot of girls out including myself but it seems ridiculous. Like is it really that big of a deal, and who even decided that they needed to be ranked? I don't see how one chapter could be 'better' than another when each one is filled with completely different groups of girls. Just a thought, not hating on any of them
