out of state student chances at top house

by: Recruitment 2016

How do sororities usually feel about out of state girls? I'm from Texas and super excited for next year but being from a different state shouldn't affect me or hurt my chances at a top house, right?

Not at all! Houses are open to out of state girls. However, being from Nebraska does put people at an advantage because they may know women or have friends in the houses. But if you are a good conversationalist and have a good resume/gpa, you will be just fine!

Do houses have to take a certain percentage of out of state girls?

Any other suggestions for out of state girls for rush? Any particular houses that are especially out of state friendly?

Every house loves out of state students, they add diversity and you have a lot more to talk about because they will think you are so cool. You will hear a lot of stereotypes about your state, but just use them as a conversation starter!! you are different, and they might remember you more because of it.

Houses have no problems with out of state girls!! My pledge class has a ton of out of state girls and they're awesome! Having girls from out of state brings a cool dynamic to the house :) Houses care more about your personality and grades tha where you're from! Just be yourself and everything will go great :)
