recruitment numbers
by: PNMI read something that said that over 1,000 women went through 2014 recruitment, but only 600 accepted a bid. Why is this? Are there a lot of grade cuts, or do people drop, or do people only list one house on their final ranking? Any insight would be appreciated - I just don't want to be blind-sighted.

I went through last year and there were a lot of grade cuts the first day. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. If your grades in HS weren't that great they'll probably be the same in college and you wouldn't do well with the high academic standards. Many girls were discouraged after this happened and didn't want to give the other houses a try so they dropped. Going in with an open mind is crucial. Another reason is that some girls apply just so they can move in early and then drop before it even begins.

I'd probably say 150 or so to move in and then probably 1/3 of the girls who drop do it after first cuts on the third day. This is a very rough estimate though. Everyone else is spread throughout the other days. If you pref 3 houses on pref day you are guaranteed a bid. And you're welcome! It's always so much easier going into this knowing a little of what to expect.
