some houses make all freshmen have a certain amount of hours, or make members below their semester GPA have hours. some make members below a certain GPA have hours, some houses base the number of hours on how low your GPA is, and some houses have no study hours. some houses make you study at the library during certain hours and check in with a proctor, others you have to go to the sorority house to study
number of hours i've heard have been from 2-10 an hour depending on the house and your GPA

I know my house doesn't require study hours for freshman until they have a college GPA. After you college GPA study hours vary depending on semester. We have a tiered system. So if you have below a 3.5 you have two hours a week, if you have below a 3.25 you have 3 hours a week and if you have below a 3.0 you have 5 hours a week. No one in our house will ever have more than 5 hours. For hours all you do is go to the house and sit in our designated proctored study areas, sign in and study. Then sign out. It is really simple and not a pain at all. Other houses are different. Phi Mu required 10 study hours for the first semester, and then after you got your college GPA it was tiered like my house was. Chi O didn't ever require study hours and Tri Delt allowed you to do study hours in the library and they usually sat with Beta or ATO while completing them. Each house has a different policy. Just ask when you rush, the girls will be happy to tell you their policy!
