rush resume
by: WorriedDue to some serious health issues, I wasn't able to do any sports or any other extracurricular activities in high school. I'm writing my resume for rush right now and I'm worried that this will drastically affect how the sororities see me. Is there any way I can make it known that I was very involved with sports before I got sick and I would have been in hs if I was able to?

The application is in a sense a resume, but you want it to be more of a "social" resume, not necessarily one you'd use to apply for a job. You can also get recommendations from anyone who was in that particular sorority, even if they didn't go to the university. Houses will look at your GPA, extracurriculars, and recs heavily the first day so it's always a good idea to try and at least get 2 for each house! You'd be surprised how many women you know were in a house, ask around and I'm sure you'll find some!

For the same health issues, honestly I don't know anybody in a sorority. I was so sick and exhausted all the time I was rarely even at school enough to make friends. I won't have any recommendations. I do have a 4.0 though. Will that be enough of a pull if I don't have any recs?

If you have a good personality and can carry on a good conversation with the girl rushing you along with your 4.0 GPA you should be able to get asked back. Recommendations help you get asked back for the second round because that's when the biggest cuts are made, but if you stand out and have a high enough GPA you will be just fine!

You should be fine! You don't need recommendations... but they can help if you have them. As for your concerns about extracurricular activities, those kinds of topics will come up in conversation with the girls at the houses. When they ask about what you did in high school, if you feel you should, you could mention why you weren't as involved as you would've liked to be.
