Hi i'm a girl coming from New York! I have a pretty good GPA and was wondering if being from New York will hurt me during rush.

No not at all!! A lot of houses welcome out of state pnms so I definitely wouldn’t worry about that. I would actually encourage you to talk about New York during recruitment. Best of luck!!

Going off of comment #2, Greek life isn’t super great here. Everyone acts like it’s still high school. Getting into a house might be hard since you’re not from the area and you won’t know people, unless you have family or friends here already.

I disagree with this comment 100%. Greek life is super fun to be apart of, it is really cliquey and the majority of UNL is in-state so therefore a lot of Greek life will be local too. But I know SO many out of state girls that absolutely love UNL and love their sorority. And I can promise you that most houses wants out of state girls to make their house more diverse in that way.

Over half of my fraternity is out of state, and probably around half the girls I know are out of state. Every sorority has a lot of out of state girls, so I wouldn’t worry about being out of state. Nebraska doesn’t have any “old row” sororities like in the South that accept only people from that area.
