Ending # vs Starting #

I am in a fraternity, so I may not have all the information as to why they’re cut, but this is my thinking: there are 14 sororities with houses at UNL, each pledge class can only take ~50 girls. 50 x 14 = 700. So it seems like a lot of it is due to how many each sorority can physically hold in a house.
Also, decent amount of girls drop after they don’t get into a good sorority, or their preference.

I know 300 seems like a lot of girls that didn’t get in sororities but it’s important to note that almost no one is entirely dropped from recruitment. Out of those 300, I’m guessing about 95% left on their own free will (usually on sisterhood or preference day because they didn’t like the 5-ish or less chapters they had left). Plus, several chapters participate in open recruitment in the fall and even in the spring sometimes so even if someone didn’t find their home during formal recruitment there are still lots of opportunities to join a house! I was an out of state PNM, too!! You will be surprised how many girls drop from your rho gam group drop out the first few days because they decided sorority life wasn't for them, they didn't get into a top tier house, or they just wanted move in a week early lol. Everyone who follows the rules and trusts the process always gets a bid!

I totally agree with the sentiment that you should enter into recruitment with as much trust in the process as possible, but what you said about everyone who follows the rules and trusts in the process receiving a bid is not true. Yes, most women that stay in recruitment as long as they can (continue to participate through the week until they are dropped or receive a bid) will receive a bid, but not all. Some girls fall through the cracks every year, which sucks, but is the reality. That’s why COB and going through recruitment a second time are always options!

WOW! 300+ girls were cut. For grades or something else? This is a HUGE number
I looked on the grade report and saw in 2018 that 771 girls were initiated, including PAC and SA. But it didn't list how many started the process. And the fall 2019 report is not available.
