rushing as a sophomore girl
by: SophomoreI’m planning on transferring to UNL next year and I’d really like to rush but I’m worried it will be difficult as a sophomore. I’ve had a 4.0 in high school and in college but I’m not a legacy and I’m concerned that this would hurt me. I also was super involved in high school, I’m really motivated to reach my goals, and I do volunteer work so I feel as though I have some valuable things to bring to the table. I’m really interested in G Phi and Chi O because they seem like intelligent, motivated, and very sweet girls! I have a few friends in both of these sororities but not any really close ones so I’m not sure if this could help me as well? Can anyone provide some insight as to what my chances are?

I'm in a fraternity, but I have a girlfriend in Chi O and a lot of friends in both Chi O and GPhi. Last fall rush I'm pretty sure both houses took a few girls that were sophomores, and both houses care a lot about grades.
If you got a 4.0 at your previous school and can talk about why you would be a good fit, your chances of getting in are pretty solid. If you have friends in these houses I would tell them too that you're transferring and wanting to get involved in Greek life.
With that being said, I know Chi O you have to get a letter of reference from an alumni, and I'm pretty sure GPhi is the same. I would talk to any people you know that are alumni of those sororities and be able to ask for one if needed.
