pnm asking about sorority costs????
by: freshmanI'm going to be a freshman at UNL this fall and I'm interested in rushing since I'm out of state. Do the sororities make you buy t shirts and matching dresses for a bunch of events? The new member fees are already a lot and frankly I'm not into wasting money on petty things like that (besides t shirts for charity events). Also, I've heard that there's no basically no party scene at UNL if you're under 21. Is that true?

If these are the only things you see coming from joining a sorority you've got a lot of things wrong. You are never REQUIRED to buy a shirt, usually, the house pays for the shirts you have to have - everything else is up to your discretion. Also depending on who you know depends on how good the party scene will be for you. I've never had a problem finding a place to have fun on the weekends - 99% because of my sorority and the people I've met through joining a house!

Like the post above said, the party scene really does depend on who you know. The first few weeks there'll be many parties so go out as much as you can and be open to meeting new people because you'll never know who will come in clutch with a spot or an address later in the future.
