rushing as a junior

by: junior

Would it be a waste of time to go through recruitment as a junior? Like do houses even consider them really?? I feel like I have been missing out on a huge part of the college experience but I don't want to get my hopes up for something not possible

It would be a waste of time. You would be associated with the freshman pledge class, and all of the juniors your age would already have established friendships. Wait till you're 21, enjoy the bar scene with a close group of friends. Meet people there.

I know a couple guys who joined my fraternity their junior year and they said that it was worth it. You’ll make a ton of new friends and be more in the “scene” of what people think of as college life. It’s never to late to join it can still be a hell of a lot of fun.

If you’re a female, it would probably depend. If a ton of your friends are all in a chapter, then it might not be a bad idea. With a lot of in house support, it would be likely you would be able to join that specific chapter and with friends there you would for sure enjoy it. However the firstborn commentor is right— a lot of the stuff you do will be with freshman who are in very different life situations from you, which mah not be enjoyable. From my experiences, chapters don’t necessarily discount you if you’re a junior but you simply be may not enjoy it!
