when do i start getting rec letters?

Hey! So I was just wondering when I should start looking for rec letters? Can I get them before apps are even open?

You can start asking anyone you know or want to write for you whenever you want but don't send them in until this summer after apps have opened and people are actually looking at them and thinking about rush
