They are definitely on some type of probation, probably social probation from UNL and some type of probation with their national office. And I'm sure they are having some "education" on hazing since taking new members into the house on Bid Day and giving them shots is definitely hazing. They also violated Panhellenic rules by drinking on Bid Day, Theta house rules about having alcohol in the facility, and obviously underage drinking laws. But a chapter isn't given the punishment of not being able to take new members for something like this. NPC doesn't do this. Theta is still a top house with great girls. They just finally got caught doing something that apparently has been a "tradition" for years in that chapter.

Theta is not on recruitment probation. Directly from the NPC "Green Book" is this:

Unanimous Agreement VII - College Panhellenic Association Judicial Procedure
Section 5A

Sanctions shall not:
• Forbid formal or informal recruitment activities or the observance of an inter/national fraternity event such as an educational program, ritual ceremony or historical celebration.
• Affect a fraternity chapter’s quota or total.
• Affect the time of new member acceptance and/or initiation.
• Forbid the right of an NPC fraternity to vote in College Panhellenic meetings.
• Include removal from the College Panhellenic.

They screwed up definitely.

There is definitely no recruitment probation for theta next year, and no new members have dropped. A select few girls made a mistake that was blown up into "FORCING pledges to drink" and "lining up shots in the bathroom." Neither of which ever occurred.

Please take rumors with a grain of salt around here. Unfortunately in the Greek community everyone loves to see each other fall every now and then.
