how important are letter of recs?
by: FreshmenI have a friend who went through recruitment in the south, she said without letters of rec it can be difficult to stand out. UNL's website says they aren't necessary at all....is that true? How much of a difference can they make during recruitment?
#1 by: Here's what they do
Letters of rec will not guarantee you an invitation or bid. (And this is the same on every campus.) They do introduce you to sororities in a more personal way and show that an alum thinks you would be a good fit. They are very important for some sororities, and some can't extend you a bid without a rec. If you can, get recs for as many sororities as possible. They in no way will hurt you and may end up helping you.

There are at least three national sororities that require new members have a recommendation. If a chapter likes you and they don't have one, either they scramble to try and get one or try and find alum to vouch for you. Why not just get one in the first place?

what sororities do you need a letter of rec for ?? I have NEVER heard of this.
