final advice to freshmen
by: actual sorority senior
genuine advice: stop stressing so much. you'll be fine. if you're choosing between any of the following (in no specific order):
Theos, castle, hall, sae, owls, delt, zete, zbt, apes
then in terms of your social life the difference will be completely negligible for the most part. it is absolutely insane that some frats spend god knows how long here and other places trying to gaslight rushes otherwise. setting the facts straight:
1) They can all throw downtown and have on campus themed events. And they all collaborate with each other to do so, and each have their "signature" semester parties (Theos woodsr, castle mg, zete brunch, apes deck, skibt, sae homecoming darty). the frequency varies from year to year but it always happens.
2) sorority "relations" (as weird as it is to brag about us on here as an "asset," don't get me started) are mostly bs. they do their own date nights more and more now, 80% of hookups happen outside of date nights, and there's insane overlap outside of organized mixers regardless.
3) "getting in" to other parties isn't even that big of a deal either. Trust me, your friends won't suddenly stop talking to you and getting you in places if one of you goes to hall and the other chooses delt. I've seen Theos guys get left out in the cold while "T2" frat dudes are escorted in the back because they're actually friends.
4) don't bother listening to brothers that tell you about "career connections" either as if that's unique. we're at Penn. literally everyone here has career connections. Fiji doesn't even make my list of "T2 and above" (so the top 3 points don't apply to them) but even they're known for academics and ec opportunities.
in summary: don't listen to posts here telling you that there's any real difference in the quality of your social life between hall, delt, apes, owls, zbt and friends. Castle and Theos are the only two with some perceivable difference but that evaporates completely by junior year.
I have so many friends that, in private, express their regrets with choosing a frat because greekrank said they were "T1" or "T1.5" instead of "T2." go with your friends instead.

Long message but yeah just join where you vibe with the guys and the energy the most. College is supposed to be about meeting the homies, not clout chasing. Also this is an Ivy League- there's a bunch more to it then spending 100% time with ur frat brothers so if you're not lame you'll probably branch out and hop around social stuff ur junior and senior year.
