New on Campus, what is OAX?
by: Honest ThoughtsHi! I am a freshman on campus and I really want to get involved in an organization like a sorority. My older sister was in a Panhellenic sorority at a different and doesn’t have much insight on off campus organizations. What is the vibe of OAX? They seem to have sisterhood on their Instagram but I am not sure if it is better to just stick to what I know or try a local sorority. Any thoughts are appreciated!! (PS: I already read about the incident with OAX back on Feb)

Being off campus doesn’t change anything about the sorority but ask about dues
They love to talk about being off campus like it makes them righteous/progressive, but every sorority pretends to be these things
They are part of the Penn social structure. Join if you like the girls. It’s like joining any other sorority (again find out about dues)

oax is pretty diverse in terms of what kinds of people are in it. you have the sceney ones, the alt ones, and the miscellaneous of all kinds. dues are a lot less expensive, and there aren’t a lot of binding rules. rush also happens during the entirety of the fall semester rather than a week in the spring. go to a few events, talk to the girls (in different friend groups), and see if you like the vibe
