Lack of PoC men in Frats
by: what is going onWhy are there proportionally way less poc boys in Greek life compared to poc girls? Like there are no reasonably diverse Frats here (within the context that more than 50% of Penn is non-white) with the exception of like a couple. I actually am asking because I was thinking Penn Frats would be highly diverse since I was used to Vanderbilt, the college near my hometown, which is criminally non-diverse when it comes to Greek life. But tbh Penn Frats are barely better. Srats have done a better job but they seem to reward the non-diverse Frats.

Well yeah because sororities care more about looks so it doesn’t matter what race as long as you’re good looking - frats are more about wealth and status

its a combination of the both tho in the case of Phi Delt, they don't really "rush" kids in the standard sense- usually done through inner connections because of sports and prep schools which often purposely leaves POC (even well-off prep school POC) out. in general, most frats up until like 2 years ago were like 90-99% white, Fiji and Phi were the only exceptions. since 2019 that has been changing. POC men def are being subjected to a systemic bias here even if it is changing for the better.

half the white men here act more entitled than the entire feminist/blm/lgbt movement combined. just observe a typical frat bro, and you'll see how they expect everyone around them to accept their carelessness and creepiness

this is absolutely not true. a lot of them want more diversity but poc rush way less frequently. if you're a rush reading this site don't let these anonymous comments discourage you. show out, meet kids, no one cares about your race.

Ya I bet they'll have a meeting and get right on that. Do you know how much work it takes just to keep a fraternity alive? These big theoretical systematic changes will never happen. Nobody has to change for anybody. If you wanna be in a frat that is a certain way and takes a person with a certain mindset and has a diversity quota, then start one.

lol not if they don’t want to. no one is obligated to socialize with anyone. no one is entitled to socialize with anyone. yet there are tons of opportunities exclusively available to blacks and hispanics. you cant have it all - especially when you didn’t even work for it.

yeah i agree no sorority is 50% poc, but sororities are at least twice as diverse as frats
