Phi Delta Theta is Inherently Messed Up
by: absolutely unrealThis is a brotherhood that claims to be a home for American athlete types. Nothing wrong with that at all. What's wrong is how little racial diversity they have. And what's worse is that this group of clones gets to keep a large house on Locust when minority cultural groups like MAKUU get a third of a basement floor. Shame on all of us for pretending that it doesn't bother us and if you are white, think about your friends of color- we don't speak about these things constantly out of care for your comfort level. It's sad that our care for you is not reciprocated when it matters most. IF you want to make a change in America regarding racism, don't just donate to far-off movements, make a case for equal treatment here at Penn.

Greek life is so dominant on Penn, it takes up half of Locust Walk. But many of these frats: Phi Delt, Ksig, A's, (ATO) make no effort or actively prevent poc recruitment.
Imagine being a poc walking down campus knowing you probably wouldn't be let into a third of the buildings on locust walk. We think we're so far from the 60's, but what goes on on campus with greek life sounds eerily similar to then.
Of course some frats are trying, but there's still a long, long, long ways to go.

even if frats became 25-35% PoC that would be satisfying, but Phi Delt is effectively 100% white with like 3-4 non-whites in total

Okay half of Locust is not greek housing... its important we don't exaggerate the diversity situation because the situation is bad as it is without any exaggeration

this should also be directed at Tridelt (as well as the other sororities in general) which supposedly is a "big" supporter of equal treatment for all races but continues to be an ally of Phi Delt which gets to keep a house to itself on locust... what is this? Germany 1935? And remember how that ended for the so called "unaware" Germans, they committed suicide in large numbers and begged for mercy

in these types of clearly socially unfair situations, the bad always catches up to the wrongdoers and bystanders

yes, I wouldn't say Greek life dominates Penn especially after Freshman year but the fact that nearly all-white houses remain established on Locust is infuriating and it honestly confuses me what Penn's cores values are... and this is coming from someone in greek life
