Ranked #1 Most Depressed University
by: Congrats UPenn!!According to a recent study Penn students were rated by far the most depressed. Makes a ton of sense actually.
#1 by: ok
A lot of kids at Penn, especially in Wharton and College Econ, treat college years as make it or break it, putting a hugeee premium on first job and first salary... all the data and well-known anecdotes shows us that this is myopia at best, since so many successful people went through an "exploration" phase in their 20s.
Also, Penn's STEM courses are really fast paced and get MIT/Caltech level difficult in junior/senior year which probably also contributes to this.
#2 by: Come on
Come on guys, we're smarter than this. Practice some independent thinking. If you actually read the paper, it's literally made by Penn students and all they do is analyze social media posts of students to assess which school's students post more negative language. The sample size was much higher for Penn cause the authors of the study were Penn students. It's pretty unbased and doesn't hold much merit.
I'm pretty sure schools like GaTech or Cornell that have had multiple suicides in recent years would probably be higher on a list for depression.
Depression is a serious term, so stop parading it around. If you keep telling students they're in a depressed environment, they'll probably feel more depressed. So don't just throw around the fact that Penn is the #1 depressed school because it's fictitious and causes more harm than good.
If I made a study that Penn was the most fun or most social school, I'm sure your confirmation bias would find these "studies" to be true at well.

ok im kind of offended as a stem major because you're assuming just because something gets difficult, it means people are going to be depressed... the more difficult something is, the more exciting it becomes
