Does Legacy status help

by: legacy

I know it def helps at greek heavy schools so that's why I'm not really sure for Penn. My mom and sister were tridelts at their colleges and luckily there's a tridelt here so I can rush, will it be hard for me?

Only a legacy at Penn's Tridelt chapter will help. idk if we are a greek "heavy" school but sure i guess we have a nice solid greek scene. its def not like Vandy or Dartmouth or a state school like UCLA js

what will truly help is if you went to Deerfield, Phillips, etc {or a Manhattan private school with decent connections to Penn}

haha in my post I meant that I know being a legacy helps at big greek schools but Penn isn't really one so I was confused if it would even help

Especially cause the ranking here says Tridelt is the top sorority (therefore the hardest to get in) so I'm even more conflicted

Legacy doesn't really matter much here like it does in the South. Also your mom may know more but I don't think Tridelt has a strong legacy policy. Esp if it's not the same chapter.

Being a legacy definitely doesnt hurt but there are such better ways to gain an advantage going into rush especially for tridelt. Knowing someone or multiple girls in tridelt (whether from home, connections, or first semester) is huge. They’ll take a girl with connections over a legacy every time. Also helps to come from a nice/relevant area (tridelts a lot of new york, connecticut, jersey, cali specifically) or come from a well known school. That being said legacy helps but not nearly as much as everything else especially considering how relatively hard it is to get into tridelt

If your parent was in Penn Greek life in the 80's, it makes it more likely that you're in the race and income bracket most appealing to sororities. So in that way there's a correlation in legacy and recruitment but not necessarily a causation

know a girl who was normal and fun and whose mom was in penn tridelt. she was cut on day one and ended up in sdt. it’s really about connections/personality idt legacy plays any significant role.
