Depends on the fraternity. Some actively recruit both freshmen and sophomores.

Pretty sure Lambda Chi, DTD, Pike, and Alpha Sig all do.

trying to answer cause you seem to really want to know. if you're a transfer it's probably easier to rush places. if not, the places that are doing a ton of dirty rush already probably aren't going to take a sophomore unless you're already being dirty rushed. Other places it's more likely particularly if you have a couple of friends there (if you do you should ask them the question because they can give you better info) and then there are probably some that even if you don't have good friends, if they like you, you could get a bid. If you know guys through clubs and stuff try and ask them. I'd like to think that other sophomores or older guys would understand it's hard as a soph not to be Greek and would give you honest info.

its pretty hard for a sophomore to get a bid in the spring. i know people who've done it but most of them already had gotten bids freshman spring or sophomore fall and then for whatever reason didn't accept them (usually because of sports or something). your chances probably aren't great but it doesn't hurt to give it a shot. and yeah if you're a transfer frats will usually be more willing to give you a chance
