sorority rec letters

I plan on attending the U starting fall 2016. I was talking to a few of my other friends and they were talking about letters of rec for sorority rush. I didn't even know that was a thing. I was wondering if UMN requires letters of rec?

You need at least 2 letter of recommendations and a written cover letter for your resume. Better get started!

No one here cares about letters of rec as far as I know. They might be helpful but they aren't really necessary here.
