where did they go?

by:

So, all those brothers moved out of the house…where did they go? How did they get housing when just about everything is full? For the guys that didn't participate and may not have even gone on the trip…what are the feelings of most of them. I suspect you will never see anyone affiliated with SAE wearing their letters on that campus again. I do think that the President and SAE National's swift action probably prevented another "Ferguson" incident. Good thing that they dealt with the issue quickly!

Maybe the boys (if any) who haven't ever sung the song and didn't even go on the trip shouldn't have been punished. They didn't do anything wrong. But back when Sigma Chi killed a guy, not all of them participated and all were punished. Boren had to do something.

If the university and SAE National would have only punished the people in the video, there would have been riots. There was no other action to be taken except to get rid of them swiftly. The university does have an obligation to keep all students safe. The members had police protection while they moved out. Who knows what could have happened had the incident lingered, police not been there and the fraternity quickly closed down. It could have put many students (innocent students) in danger around that campus and in particular, that area. This could have been a catastrophe, and because of the quick action, it's a coachable moment for universities and fraternities across the country. Sorry it had to be OU and sorry this had to happen, but let's hope that this really makes an impact on how the Greek system views racism. It's a learning lesson for our entire country. Let's also hope some good comes out of this in the next year, so that the nationals of all sorority and fraternities really do some intense training and develop a culture of responsibility and accountability for actions.

Racism covers all colors, religions etc… This is bigger than just a couple young, dumb and stupid frat boys singing about blacks…it's an issue with our entire country. I think that only GOOD can come out of this entire thing. People will listen and wake up and really take note of how their actions and racism impacts others. This one incident impacted the fraternity, all Greeks, the boys, their parents, their community, their neighborhood, the university and America, which is watching how this all plays out. What will really be interesting is to see how these two boys handle this going forward. What did they learn? What are they going to do to correct it and change behaviors of themselves and others. That is what will be interesting to see in 6 months to a year.
