They know they want you based on recs, letters and things that you include in your resume for rush. Don't think those aren't a huge deal because they are for every house! Being a legacy can help or hurt you, it'll keep you around longer usually to the house your a legacy in but you'll usually get cut from other houses because they assume you would prefer to be in your legacy house. Also girls can know about you by word of mouth so if you have a bad high school rep it can come back to hurt you, have fun and be on your best behavior over the summer- anything on facebook could go against you too. and if you're going to camp crimson be on you best behavior too because a majority of counselors are IN sororities. They will be watching/listening... but don't act fake just be yourself. That goes for all of rush too. Don't stress just do your best before rush and during and it all works out the way it should, I promise.

Honestly, we go thru every girl before rush. We see if she's a legacy and if it's a top house we normally just go ahead and give her a bad rating because she'll probably go that house. We facebook creep every. single. one. of you guys. Block your facebooks NOW. Don't talk about the four B's... Boos, boys, Bible, and bucks. Off limits. Pretty much act like you are just a fun girl who doesn't party and wants to be super involved in the house. And if you've had a bad reputation in high school or have bad ties with a girl in a house, you're cut. Good luck!

My advice is to decide what type of girls you want to spend the next four years with. Believe me, your first impression with people will be the reputation of your house. If you're not an edgy party girl, you're not going to be happy in the houses that are ranked below 6. Generally the classier girls are in the top 5, maybe 6 houses. Boys like girls for a different reason than girls choose their sisters. But I agree that the top houses (not just 4) pretty much know who they are going to take before you get here. If you have a bad rep from high school (and your hometown group will know) you're not going to get a bid regardless of how cute you dress or whether your facebook is blocked. You need to be yourself and not try to trick houses into giving you a bid. You won't be happy.
