You are confusing the term "top house" with "top half of the houses." Top houses are ones that are preferred by pnms, and ones that are classy, fun, involved, and respected on campus. The ones that are not top houses are the ones that are less desired, less involved, less respected, etc. "Top houses" has nothing to do with fractions but everything to do with being in a house that is respected, not an embarrassment. There ARE six top houses at this time.

I'm a Theta and fully believe that both g phi and a phi have earned top house status. That being said, the four tippy top houses, kappa tri delt pi phi and theta, will always be the most preferred. That doesn't really have a chance of changing anytime soon, so why does everyone feel threatened by a top 6? Calm down girls ,

How have they earned top house status? What have they won lately? Chi O just won U-Sing and has tradition and people apparently don't consider them a top house anymore. GPhi didn't win an award in U-Sing, didn't make Scandals, and only does stuff with DU or bottom houses now. APhi didn't make U-Sing but they made Scandals with a solid but unspectacular show. APhi is improving, yes, but they and Gphi are still both mid-tier houses. Nobody feels threatened by them, its not like what GPhi does has any effect on what my sorority does, they just aren't top houses anymore than Chi O.

As someone who isn't a freshman (unlike 90% of the people on here) I can attest to the fact that Alpha Phi was considered a bottom 3 house by the majority of the Greek community until this year. And even then, it's only on here that I hear them getting such praise. They did get a slightly better pledge class so I'd say they've jumped ahead of AXO and MAYBE DG for #7 or #8 but that's absolutely it.

I too am a Theta (so was my mom and gma). When I went through recruitment they didn't put any pressure on me except to tell me that Tri Delta has only been a "tippy top" top house for the last few years. So check your facts. Houses do move around, but the --yes, I'm going to agree -- top 6 houses can change, but they're definitely a huge step above the rest. To the person below: you have a very narrow view, looking at only this year. Top house status involves wayyyy more than one year.
